MEKI

MEKI is a compact X Ray Food Inspection System used to detect foreign objects inside food products during processing and packing. It is commonly applied in food manufacturing plants where visual checks and metal detection alone are not sufficient. The system supports quality assurance by identifying dense contaminants in fresh, frozen, or foil-packed products. It operates within a defined detection area of 250 × 110 mm and supports conveyor speeds up to 1.3 m/s. MEKI is widely used in food processing environments across Oman.

MEKI provides inline X-ray inspection for packaged and unpackaged food products moving through a conveyor system. It examines product content using a linear scanner and processes images through dedicated inspection software to identify foreign materials such as metal fragments, glass, stone, or dense plastics. This makes it suitable for applications where packaging or product composition limits other inspection methods.

In Omani facilities operating in Muscat and Sohar, MEKI is typically installed after product sealing and before final packing or storage. Its compact frame and adjustable conveyor height allow installation in space-constrained processing rooms. The system operates effectively in ambient factory conditions with controlled humidity and temperature.

MEKI supports consistent inspection at defined belt speeds and maintains accuracy within its fixed detection window. Its enclosed design, low radiation output, and straightforward operation make it suitable for regional food production and distribution facilities across Oman.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Oman, MEKI is commonly used in food processing plants handling packaged, frozen, or export-oriented products. Facilities in Muscat and Sohar use X-ray inspection where product integrity must be verified beyond surface-level checks.

Yes, MEKI is well suited for medium-scale operations due to its compact design and straightforward integration. Omani plants value its ability to provide advanced inspection without requiring complex automation infrastructure.

Inspection accuracy depends on stable conveyor speed and consistent product spacing. In Omani facilities, maintaining belt speeds within the system’s operating range helps ensure reliable detection and accurate reject timing.

MEKI can be used in indoor processing areas within industrial zones, including those near ports such as Sohar. Protection from excess humidity and dust, along with regular cleaning, supports long-term reliability.

Operators require basic training on system controls, alarm handling, and inspection verification. In many Omani plants, this training is incorporated into standard quality control procedures rather than requiring dedicated technical staff.

Performance verification is usually carried out at defined intervals, such as shift changes or batch transitions. Omani processors often align verification routines with internal quality checks to support traceability and export compliance.
